An average of 40% of the energy goes to buildings used for residential use or in services, this show data relating to the final energy consumption in the European Union (EU).

Demand for sustainable ways of funding energy-efficiency measures for residential buildings should continue.Ambition should be in the direction that measures can be combined in the future with others such as environmental protection and the deployment of renewable energy sources in residential buildings.The goal is to reduce energy consumption even more and, where technically and economically feasible – to implement measures for zero energy. Achieving these goals will reduce the ecological footprint of each building.
