Romania, Belgium, and Germany are leaders in annual construction output growth in the Union in the first month of the year.

Bulgaria is among the EU countries with the smallest growth in construction on a monthly and annual basis in January.

Construction output in Bulgaria increased by 1.6% y / y in January after a jump of 1.9% in December. Among the EU Member States for which data are available, only Portugal (+ 0.9%) recorded a year-on-year increase, with Spain and Hungary declining by -4.4% and -2, respectively. , 4%. Romania, Belgium and Germany achieved the highest annual construction growth in January of 47.8%, 12.9% and 12% respectively.

Compared to December, construction in our country registered a growth of 0.9%, which is the lowest among the Member States. Only Spain dropped by 0.3%. The largest increases on a monthly basis were achieved by Romania, Slovenia and Poland by 20.9%, 10.2% and 9.3% respectively.

Construction output in the euro area increased by 6% yoy in January and 6.2% in the EU as a whole. On a monthly basis, reported growth in the euro area and the EU is 3.6% and 3.9%, respectively.

Both in the EU and in the euro area, growth in construction output is mainly due to civil and engineering construction, while building construction has grown at a slower pace.
