Bulgaria ranks fifth in the EU in annual construction output growth in August, according to the European Statistical Office.
Construction output in our country grew by 3.3% annually in the eighth month of the year, with growth slowing down from 4.4% in July, data show.
Among the EU Member States for which data are available, the strongest growth in construction output was observed in Romania (+ 34.2%), Sweden (+ 6.8%) and Hungary (+ 5.9%). Poland is also ahead of Bulgaria with 5.1% growth in construction output.
The largest decrease was recorded in Slovenia (-7.5%), Slovakia (-6.9%) and Belgium (-2.5%).
In the second quarter, construction output in Bulgaria increased by 3.4% compared to the same period last year, slowing down compared to the annual increase of 5.8% in the first quarter.
Compared to July, construction output in Bulgaria recorded a minimum decline of 0.1%, interrupting two consecutive months of growth. A decrease of 1.6% was also observed in the second quarter compared to the first three months of the year.
Among the Member States for which data are available, the largest decline in construction output on a monthly basis was registered in Hungary (-10.5%), Slovenia (-3.7%) and the Czech Republic (-2.8%). The highest growth was recorded in Poland (+ 2%), Sweden (+ 1.9%) and Portugal (+ 0.9%).
