The capital Sofia is solidified as a leader in new residential construction, show the data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) has issued permits for construction in the first quarter and started new buildings.

In the first quarter of 2016, local administrations have issued permits for the construction of residential buildings with 993, 3 434 homes and 508 473 sq.m. gross floor area (GFA), show the data of the National Statistical Institute.

Construction of the largest number of new buildings started in Sofia city - 109 residential, 6 Administrative and 29 other buildings, Plovdiv -85 residential and 57 other buildings, Burgas - 104 residential and 32 other buildings, Varna -80 residential and 9 other buildings.
