The number of residential buildings put into operation in the third quarter of the year is 454, and the newly built dwellings there are 1,944, preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute show.
Compared to the third quarter of 2017, the new buildings are 10.1% less, and the number of dwellings is down by 3.6%.
A large number of residential buildings were put into operation in the districts of Varna - 91 buildings with 559 dwellings, Plovdiv - 77 buildings with 239 dwellings, and Bourgas - 68 buildings with 543 dwellings. Sofia occupies barely 4th place with 27 buildings and 85 dwellings.
The share of newly constructed homes with two rooms is the highest (43.3%), followed by those with three rooms (27.5%) and the lowest portion of the housing with six or more rooms (3.9%)
The average useful area of a newly built dwelling decreases from 84.4 sq.m. in the third quarter of 2017 to 83.7 sq. m. in the same quarter of 2018.
